The Institute for Sustainable Development of Towns and Municipalities is a publicly beneficial society founded in June 2011 by the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic and aims to create a quality professional basis mainly for the local administration.

The Institute´s mission is to create favourable conditions for the co-operation between the public and the private sectors and between the professional bodies or institutions whose activities are connected to the execution of the public administration or of the self-government, and to their development, especially at the local level.

The Institute responds to the actual needs of towns and municipalities. It concentrates on the whole spectrum of topics related to the development of towns and municipalities, such as the environment, transport, public energy supply and the social scene.

The Institute co-operates very closely with town and municipality representatives as well as with professional institutions. These partners have long traditions of co-operation with the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic.
